It's official. Renewables are all the rage. Every Electricity Supply Company in the UK is required to meet Government targets set by the Renewables Obligation Order and boost the production of electricity from renewables sources to 15.4% by 2015/16.

In order to meet these targets, suppliers must obtain Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) or pay a hefty payment into a special fund. ROCs can be bought and sold in an on-line auction, set up by NFPAS.

Kinghorn-Davies were appointed by NFPAS which auctions ROCs on behalf of a number of clients, large and small, including Scottish Power Retail and Scottish and Southern Energy. We handle strategic marketing support and public relations for the new ROC auctions for NFPAS, a subsidiary of the Non-Fossil Purchasing Agency.

We introduced a new name and corporate identity for the auction (re-branded as e-ROC), and a brand new website (www.nfpas-auctions.co.uk) providing information to ROC sellers about how the e-ROC online auction works. New customers to the auction service were recruited through a specially targeted direct marketing and editorial campaign in the specialist power, environmental and industry sectors. Attendance at specialist exhibitions with a modest stand has further promoted the service.

Since our initial work on e-ROC, we have worked with our client to develop and launch two further on-line auction services, e-POWER, for renewable energy sales and e-TOC, for renewable transport fuel obligation certificates.
